Structural Steel
We fabricate and erect steel for commercial, industrial, and residential jobs from 1 to 100 tons.
- Schools and additions
- Gas stations and canopies
- Industrial buildings and mezzanines
- Long-span residential beams
We draw, fabricate, and erect structural steel for general contractors along the Southeast coast. Our shop drawings are done in-house and our own crews set the steel, so it's one contract from start to finish. Most of our jobs run 1 to 100 tons.
When fabrication and erection are split between two subs, fit-up problems turn into finger-pointing and your schedule takes the hit. We own the steel from shop drawings to the last bolt, so nothing gets lost between them.
Our own detailers turn your structural set into shop drawings, from moment frames to spiral stairs. You're not waiting in an outside detailer's queue, and questions get answered down the hall.
We cut, bend, roll, and weld in a 50,000 sq ft Brunswick shop. The welding is AWS D1.1 certified.
Our own crews set the steel, then clear out so the next trade can get to work. Nothing gets handed off to a sub you've never met.
Big shops chase big tonnage. A 25-ton school addition or gas station canopy is our main work, not something squeezed in between larger jobs.
Our average job is about 25 tons, so jobs your size get our full attention and our best crews.
Shop drawings, fabrication, and erection all happen under one roof, so RFIs and revisions don't bounce between three companies.
The people who built it are the people who set it. When something needs a field fix, our own crew handles it.
With 50,000 sq ft of shop, we can fabricate ahead and hold your steel until the site is ready, instead of shipping it to sit in the mud.
Griffis Steel has been in Brunswick since 1955 and is now run by the third generation. We'll be here for the punch list and the next job.
These are the machines behind your steel. With heavy press and roll capacity and two CNC plasma tables, work that other shops would send out stays in our building, from long-span trusses to finished spiral stairs.

Structural steel for general contractors is our core business. The same shop also builds stairs and railings, keeps local plants running, and takes on custom jobs other shops turn down.
We fabricate and erect steel for commercial, industrial, and residential jobs from 1 to 100 tons.
We build steel stairs, handrail, and aluminum spiral staircases where the fit and finish matter as much as the strength.
We fabricate and repair in the field for mills and power plants, during planned shutdowns and outages.
These are the one-off jobs that need a big shop and people who figure things out.

Brunswick sits halfway between Savannah and Jacksonville on I-95. That puts us about an hour from jobs in either city, and everywhere along the coast in between.
Adding a new steel sub to your bid list takes paperwork. Here's the short version up front. Our full prequal packet, including COI, safety program, and references, is available upon request.
Put us on your bid list, or send the structural set and we'll turn around a number. You'll hear back from a person, not a form.
